Key Background:

T-Mobile US, Inc. (NASDAQ: TMUS) announced the appointment of Srinivasan Gopalan as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective March 1, 2025. Gopalan will report directly to CEO Mike Sievert and will oversee T-Mobile’s technology initiatives and go-to-market operations across both the Consumer and Business divisions.

In his new role, Gopalan will focus on advancing T-Mobile’s transformation by driving operational excellence and innovation within the company. He will lead technology solutions, digital initiatives, and integrated go-to-market strategies designed to enhance customer experiences and support T-Mobile’s goal of becoming a data-informed, AI-enabled, and digital-first organization. Additionally, Gopalan will work to extend T-Mobile’s leadership in the 5G space while contributing to the development of next-generation mobile network standards.

Gopalan brings a wealth of experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors, with a track record of successful leadership at global organizations. Before joining T-Mobile, he held senior positions at Bharti Airtel, CapitalOne, Vodafone, and T-Mobile UK, where he played a key role in the joint venture with Orange. His leadership at Deutsche Telekom, where he served as Managing Director of Telekom Deutschland GmbH, guided the company through a digital transformation and significant growth.

Having served on T-Mobile’s Board of Directors since 2022, Gopalan’s deep understanding of the company’s operations makes him a natural fit for the COO position. CEO Mike Sievert expressed confidence in Gopalan’s ability to drive the company’s ongoing transformation, noting that his appointment comes at a critical juncture as T-Mobile accelerates its multi-year business and technology plans. Upon Gopalan’s arrival, key senior leaders, including Jon Freier, Callie Field, Nestor Cano, and Ulf Ewaldsson, will report directly to him as part of T-Mobile’s ongoing leadership structure.
